Problem 1 - RJ for Hospitality and Tourism Management

Question: Elaborate with examples on the key words you have learnt today.

There are 4 different types of tourism.  After reading and pondering, I am wondering if it is possible that all 4 different tourism to be happening at the same time.

1   1 )      Domestic Tourism
a.       Tourists that travels from one part of the stat to another state
b.      Tourist from other country to travel to other state is also considered.
2   2 )      Internal Tourism
a.       Tourists that travel from one part of the state to another state
     3)      International Tourism
a.       Inbound Tourists
                                                               i.      Visitation by non-residents of the country
b.      Outbound Tourists
                                                               i.      Visitation by residents of a country to another country
     4)      National Tourism
a.       Tourists travel out of their country
b.      Visitation by residents of a country to another country.

Example 1:
Caleb who is a Singaporean is travelling to Korea, Seoul for a cultural exchange. He is to be considered as an International tourist as he is travelling to a country or state that is not belonging to Singapore.

Caleb met Tae Hyun at Seoul who is his Korean buddy for this particular cultural exchange programme. Tae Hyun brought Caleb to Jeju Island by domestic flight since travelling by air is faster when compared to travelling by ship. Tae Hyun is considered as internal tourism because he is travelling from one part of Korea to another part of Korea. Both Tae Hyun and Caleb is considered to be domestic tourism, since Tae Hyun is travelling from one state to another and Caleb is travelling as a foreigner from one state to another.

After staying at Jeju Island for a few days, Tae Hyun and Caleb decided to go Kuala Lumpur to do some sight-seeing.

Tae Hyun is considered as an inbound tourist as he is visiting Malaysia which is not his country and that Caleb is considered to be an outbound tourist as he is considered to be travelling from one country to another country that is not his homeland. Both of them can also be considered as national tourism as both of them are travelling out of Korea which is travelling out from one country to another.

Hospitality refers to the various food, beverages and accommodation that are provided to the tourists.
Tourism refers to when foreigner using their own currency to spend at other country.

Example:
Caleb brought seaweed in Korea he is considered to be tourist and to be well taken care of by the hospitality as he is spending Korean currency rather than Singapore currency and that seaweed which the Korean delicacies is easily accessed.

If Tae Hyun brought seaweed in Korea he is not considered as a tourist as he is earning Korean currency and spending Korean currency. He is considered to have be well taken care of by the hospitality as he can easily access the Korean delicacies without trouble.

Government Sectors refers to people who are working under the government whereas private sector refers to companies that is run by individual and all profits goes to themselves.

Example:
If Tae Hyun’s grandmother decided to do major heart operation in Singapore, they would usually choose private hospitals such as KK Hospital or Raffles Hospital.

Whereas if is Caleb’s grandmother decided to do a major heart operation, they would have chose Singapore General Hospital (SGH) rather than Raffles Hospital as SGH is run by the government and definitely there is some form of helps that is available to them to relieve finance burden.

The public sectors are considered as the Non-Government Organizations (NGOs). This is because these organizations are usually not profiting from the government and that they are a group of people that are interested in tourism.

Example 2:
The organization National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS) are actually various travel agencies that gather together to provide travel packages to various group of people. These companies include the Chan Brothers, Five Star Tours, Farmosa Holiday Tour… e.t.c. They usually profit by holding exhibitions to get people interested and to buy their travel packages.

I think that’s all the key points that I can identify in problem 1. :D
